How Our Storm Damage Restoration Process Works How Our Storm Damage Restoration Process Works

Storm Damage is one of the worst damages that can happen to your home or business. Mostly because it's so unpredictable. Sure, you can watch the news and check your weather apps, but most of the time what hits, can be worse than expected. That's why SERVPRO is here. We're here to help restore your home or business "like it never even happened." A Restoration Response for Storm Damages in Holmdel Structures

Lifelong New Jerseyans have seen some of the worst storm systems crash through our region and leave destruction in their path. Our proximity to the ocean and other significant bodies of water can make for substantially cold winters and fierce, stormy summers almost every year. We offer a comprehensive restoration solution encompassing nearly every need that your Holmdel property might have after any structural damage, breaches and subsequent flooding.

Emergency Services for Damaged Homes

With high winds, flying debris, and fallen trees, areas like the roof of your Holmdel residence can collapse or fail. Emergency services often come before the full inspection and assessment of the property. They exist to reduce the immediate threats to the house and its occupants from compromised construction materials, standing water, or other hazards. Some of the most common emergency services our SERVPRO team offers are:

  • Extraction services
  • Content management and relocation
  • Controlled demolition of sagging or damaged structural elements
  • Temporary construction solutions for roof and window breaches

There is No Job Too Big for Our SERVPRO Team

Storm damage can be a widespread threat in the communities we serve, especially with natural flood scenarios. We are a large loss recovery team capable of helping multiple projects simultaneously. With a growing roster of qualified technicians and an inventory of cutting-edge tools and technologies for water removal and flood cleaning, our team can always be there to help you when you need it.

Water Damage Restoration Process

When your home or commercial property has water damage from flooding or leaks, we have the expertise and equipment to properly restore your property. Our experience and scientific approach to water removal and water cleanup enable us to properly dry and restore your property.

Every water damage repair event is a little different and requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same:

  • Step 1: Emergency Contact - The restoration process begins when you call us. Our representative will guide you through the crisis and may ask several questions to help us better understand the equipment and resources.
  • Step 2: Inspection and Water Damage Assessment - We determine the scope of your water damage at this stage. We inspect and test affected area to determine the extent of damage and how far the moisture has traveled to ensure proper and complete restoration.
  • Step 3: Water Removal/Water Extraction - The water removal process begins almost immediately and removes the majority of water. We use powerful pumps and vacuum units to quickly remove hundreds or thousands of gallons from your property, which helps prevent secondary water damage and mold growth.
  • Step 4: Drying and Dehumidification - We use specialized equipment to remove the remaining water that is harder to access. Our professionals will use room measurements, temperature, and relative humidity to determine the optimal number of air movers and dehumidifiers needed to start the drying process for your home or business.
  • Step 5: Cleaning and Sanitizing - We clean all of the restorable items and structures damaged by the water. We are adept at cleaning contents using a number of techniques. Our professionals are trained to provide sanitizing treatments and to remove odors and deodorize your property.
  • Step 6: Restoration - Restoration is the process of restoring your home or business to its pre-water damage condition. Restoration may involve minor repairs such as replacing drywall and installing new carpet, or may entail major repairs such as the reconstruction of various areas or rooms in a home or business.

Mold Remediation

It only takes a small water leak or even excess humidity for mold to form in your home or business. Then it can spread quickly through the property in as little as 48 hours, producing allergens, irritants, and a variety of health effects. While mold growth may seem impossible for remediation, the experts at SERVPRO know better. We are renowned for our successful mold removal services. If you suspect your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property, using specialized training, equipment and expertise to prevent mold growth and remediate it. Mold can be tricky to get rid of but with the right chemicals and our technicians, it doesn't stand a chance. Let us return your home or business to its pristine, mold-free environment.

Sewage Cleanup

Water from sewer system backups should be considered very dangerous. The water is grossly unsanitary and may contain bacteria and viruses that could cause serious illness. Special training and equipment is necessary to safely clean this type of contamination.

There are three types of contaminated water. We will inspect that contaminated water to determine the type of water and then plan the appropriate response to safely restore your home or business.

The three types of contaminated water include:

Category 1: Clean Water - this is water from a clean water source only, such as a broken clean water supply line or faucet. If left untreated, category 1 water can quickly degrade into category 2 or 3 water, depending upon such factors as time, temperature, and contact with contaminants.

Category 2: Gray Water - This water has a significant level of contamination that could cause discomfort or illness if ingested. Sources for category 2 water may include washing machine overflow, toilet overflow with some urine but no feces, or dishwasher overflow.

Category 3: Black Water - This water is grossly unsanitary and could cause severe illness or death if ingested, and any contact should be avoided. Sources for category 3 water could include flooding from rivers or streams, water from beyond the toilet trap, water from the toilet bowl with feces, or standing water that has begun to support microbial growth.

Carpet Cleaning

Even the highest-quality carpet and upholstery can show soiling over time. Protect your investment by calling us to clean and maintain your carpet and upholstery. The SERVPRO system offers a number of cleaning options to match any type of upholstery or carpet.

We offer a range of specialized cleaning methods that include:

Bonnet Cleaning - a less aggressive method for short piled carpets

Hot Water Extraction - a deeper cleaning method for all carpet types

Deluxe Precondition and Rinse - helps restore deeply soiled areas

Dry Cleaning - when color-fastness is an issue

Odor Removal

As experts in deodorization, we are trained to identify and eliminate offensive odors. These odors can come from a number of sources both inside and outside a structure.

SERVPRO teaches IICRC technical classes in the proper removal of odors. Masking and other shortcuts don't work when your odor problem is serious or persistent.

We have the training and equipment to identify and eliminate these offensive odors. By identifying the cause of the odor, and determining the conditions where it contacts surfaces, the odor can be often removed over time without a trace. Our techs have access to several odor removal products capable of penetrating surfaces to neutralize an unpleasant odor thoroughly.

Building Services

When your home or business has fallen victim to fire damage, water damage, or storm damage, the immediate concern should be temporary protective measures such as placing roof tarps to prevent additional damage, and boarding up to secure the building and remove water and debris.

After protecting and securing the structure, we will begin the restoration and repair process. Your home or business may need reconstruction work to get your property back to its preloss condition.

We can simplify the restoration process by handling both the initial damage mitigation and rebuilding the affected areas. Having one qualified restoration company for the entire process can save time and keep costs low.
